Species promotion

For some years, mindful of the strong responsibility our region bears, the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch has been committed to conserving species of national importance. As a pre-alpine region with a high level of rainfall, Entlebuch is home to many species that depend on upland moors as well as extensive marshes and wetlands. We have also dedicated ourselves to a species of national significance in our meadows which has found a supportive habitat in sunny, structured bodies of water. Read more about our support for the midwife toad.

In addition, we prioritise the support of attractive and easily recognisable species in agricultural and residential areas. Within intensively utilised areas in particular, the preservation and networking of structures large and small is critical to numerous species that are approaching rarity.
