Schallenberg

The Schallenberg is a day trip area popular with families, hikers and bikers. On weekends between 27 April and 27 October 2024, the region is accessible by PostBus line 252, which conveniently runs from Escholzmatt to Thun.

Enjoy the adventure region with lunch on the Schallenberg, a family outing or a stroll by the banks of Lake Thun. Alternatively, tackle one of the many hiking or bike trails.

Glaubenberg

From the start of May to the end of October, PostBus line 232 runs five times a day on weekends and public holidays; from Monday to Friday, it makes two trips from Entlebuch to Langis via the Glaubenberg Pass. PostBus line 344 from Sarnen arrives in Langis at almost the same time as the 232, so seamless transfers in both directions are assured.

The Fürstein, a mountain commanding scenic views, stands on the border of the cantons of Obwalden and Lucerne – ideal for a hike in the open air.

Glaubenbielen

In the summer, a spectacular road leads from Giswil, over the Glaubenbielen Pass and through the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch on its way to Schüpfheim. Along the way, you will discover a stunning landscape far removed from the busy modern world. Line 241 runs five times a day from Sörenberg to the Glaubenbielen car park. PostBus line 363 runs three times a day on weekends (and daily at certain times of year) from Glaubenbielen to Giswil.

Bramboden

Line 234 operates from Schüpfheim to Bramboden via Hasle. The hamlet of Bramboden is a jewel nestling in the countryside of Entlebuch at the base of the Napf mountain. From Bramboden, you can walk along the themed Köhlerweg (‘charcoal path’) to Romoos and learn more about charcoal burning and its history.

Also in Bramboden is the Wiesner Mysterion, where Michelin-starred chef Stefan Wiesner (also known as the «Sorcerer of Entlebuch») treats diners to his avant-garde creations.

Heiligkreuz

PostBus no. 233 brings you from Entlebuch to Schüpfheim via Hasle and Heiligkreuz, which itself is worth a stopover. Heiligkreuz is a pilgrimage site and source of energy within the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch.

With options ranging from a short stroll to the pilgrimage site, a themed trail or a hike lasting several hours, there is something for people of all ages.
